Meet Our Overseer
Colin Shuler was born June 8, 1965, to W. Paul and Bonieta Shuler (from North Carolina and South Dakota respectively). He attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Washington state, which he joined as a young boy in 1973. He accepted a call into the ministry as a teenager and began preaching and working in his local church and state youth camps almost immediately, traveling throughout the northwest with his family’s gospel band for much of this time.
Brother Shuler met his wife, Gerri Wilda (from Idaho), in 1984, and they were married on May 25, 1985. They have six children and ten grandchildren. They began their pastoral ministry in 1987 at the Church of God of Prophecy in Florence, Colorado, and in 1989, they were appointed to pastor in Emmett, Idaho, where they stayed for six years.
The Solemn Assembly of 1993 marked a drastic change for the Shulers when they renewed their covenant with The Church of God. They returned to Idaho, organizing a new church and pastoring there, until they were appointed to pastor in Colorado Springs, Colorado, which began their slow move toward the eastern United States.
Brother Shuler has served as a pastor, district overseer, and regional worker in Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, and Idaho. In 2000, he was ordained a bishop and, since 2020, he has been serving under General appointment, including as the Assistant Editor of The Evening Light.
